In this lesson, you’ll practice typing the home row keys (ASDF JKL;) and the top row (R U). Place your fingers on the home row and type these words above.

The Top Row
The top row keys are the ten keys positioned directly above the home row on a QWERTY US keyboard. For the left hand, you’ll use the keys Q, W, E, R, and T, while the right hand is responsible for Y, U, I, O, and P.
The Right – Left Hand
- Place your left forefinger on the F key and your right forefinger on the J key.
- Use your left forefinger to press R and your right forefinger to press U.
- Afterward, return your forefingers to the F and J keys.
Touch typing develops muscle memory through repeated practice, making your movements more natural for faster and easier typing.
